Come See Via Beatrice: August 16th

Our latest operetta, Via Beatrice will be in workshop this summer at the Playwrights Theatre Centre on Granville Island. Workshop dates are August 5-15th, with a FREE staged reading open to the public at 7 p.m. on August 16th. Come and witness innovation in the making! We will welcome your feedback.

Written by Jenn Griffin and composed by Peggy Lee, this project is a 21st-century perspective of the life of Beatrice Cenci told in dramatic form for the first time (to our knowledge) by women. It is a gritty, provocative, humourous and musical tale that interweaves a 21st-century Vancouver woman’s need for solace with that of the spirit of Beatrice.

Artistic Team Announced

The team for this workshop includes high-calibre Canadian artists: Chris Gerrard-Pinker (director), Peggy Lee (workshop musician), Ron Samworth (workshop musician), Andreas Khare (designer), Lucia Frangione (actor/singer), Marco Soriano (actor/singer) and Laura Di Cicco (actor/singer). Dramaturgy is by Liesl Lafferty.

Once the workshop phase has passed, we will be heading to completing the project. Final completion is scheduled for 2009.
